Overview

The Automotive Service Manager manages all service related staff to ensure a satisfactory customer experience. This individual is responsible for the hiring, training and development of all service staff. The Automotive Service Manager serves as the liaison between the store and Support Service to ensure that Store Performance Expectation (SPE) objectives and customer satisfaction are obtained.


The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, at least 5 year of dealer-level or large Automotive Service Management experience, an unrestricted California driver's license and a clean driving record, and a strong technical and customer service performance record.  He or she must be able to work productively in a fast-paced team environment with the ability to lead their service team with a positive attitude, professional appearance, great communication skills, and the ability to deliver world class customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, train, develop and motivate the service department staff and monitor their performance.
  • Develop and oversee an annual operating budget for the service department and keep dealership management informed of variances.
  • Forecast goals and objectives for the departments and ensure they are met.
  • Ensure that the service department meets all customer satisfaction (CSI) and financial goals.
  • Schedule training as necessary to properly repair and service vehicles.
  • Stay up to date on product changes, new products, and repair protocols required by the manufacturer.
  • Ensure that all necessary shop equipment is in proper and safe working condition.
  • Understand and comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect service department operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA right-to-know, etc.
  • Utilize available pricing parameters and strategies to generate sufficient profit while maintain customer loyalty.
  • Create a work environment where team members feel supported and are held accountable to performance objectives
  • Ensure full compliance with manufacturer parts and warranty policies, procedures and rules.

Qualifications

 

  • 5 or more years’ Automotive Service Management experience in an automotive service department.
  • Nissan experience a Big PLUS!!
  • Strong Leadership skills.
  • Ability to motivate team members and hold them accountable for performance metrics.
  • Ability to set and meet goals and objectives. 
  • Must have a California drivers license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience in managing employees.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Great attitude with high-energy personality.
  • Excellent customer satisfaction skills. 
  • Professional appearance and work ethic.
  • Ability to strategize and maximize team member productivity
  • Ability to solve employee and client issues professionally and ethically
  • Bilingual- a plus.
